Spankin New Book Review on A Beautiful Defeat by Kevin Malarkey
What could possibly be beautiful about defeat? As a red-blooded American male, I have nothing within me that desires to ever lose or admit defeat, but yet this is exactly the call of A Beautiful Defeat by Kevin Malarkey. The concept of this book is pretty simple, the only way to find true freedom is to surrender every aspect of my life to Jesus and allow Him to reform every piece of me. While the point of this book is simply stated, it dives deep into it's ramifications. Throughout the book, I was guided on a journey through my struggles, weaknesses, pain, and sin. It would be untrue however to say that this book is a book of death and defeat, because it is in fact a well of life and hope, because it is only when we lose ourselves, and expose our brokenness that God begins to piece together the beautiful creation He has seen all along.
It is a simple read, and does a masterful job and making each chapter practical and spiritual through a chapter by chapter application section. It is relatively captivating though it deals with a topic that is sure to make you throw the book across the room and walk away from time to time.
This book is grounded within the pages of Scripture and will do well for anyone who desires to find freedom and true life in Jesus.
