Remix Book Review on Yawning at Tigers by Drew Dyck

Does what we think about God really matter? According Dyck’s latest work, the answer is an emphatic YES! The overall message of the book is simply that whatever you think about God really does make a difference. Think about it, if someone views God only as a judgmental king then they will live a life of legalism and fear, but on the other hand if one sees God as a loving and coddling God then all they will see of Him is a God who always forgives and never desires genuine life changes.

Dyck proposes that both of these images are only partially true, and instead we should see God as holy, just, mysterious, loving, merciful, gracious, and pure. This is the God of the Bible, the Creator of the Universe, and the only God really worth following.

I found this book to be very interesting starting from the title. I mean nobody yawns when they see a tiger so why do I do that to the mysterious and awesome God? This was a book written with precision and skill. It kept my attention well while challenging me each time I picked it up. Drew does a great job of keeping the book aligned and with support of Scripture.

So whether you are a follower of Jesus or a skeptic I would encourage you to read this book to get a clear picture of the mysterious Creator who prizes both justice and love.
