Once Upon Your Dream...

What is your dream? We each have some scheme that has sat inside us for so long that it feels not only impossible but even the first step is unclear.

Those dreams that are within each of us seem impossible usually because of fear, and rarely because of REAL life.

We cite our circumstance, and say that the dream is to start a ballet for inner city kids, but you have no way to get the funding. Or you are a business professional and have always dreamed of being a worship pastor and the difference in pay just seems like too much of a giant to overcome.

The point is that each of us has a dream….

Mine is to help people who are far from God become fully devoted followers of Christ, and I would love to do that through using my passions which are to start up a church where creativity is unleashed and through writing, which I also love.

Solomon wrote in Proverbs, “Hope postponed grieves the heart; but when a dream comes true, life is full and sweet.”[1]

My dream began coming true when I moved in August of 2013 to Kansas City from Central Valley of California. At the church I serve at lives are being transformed, marriages are being saved, and hope is being restored.

As for writing? This sentence is in a way my dream coming true. I love to write, because I believe God can use these words to change lives. He takes my 1% and matches it with the other 99.

So the question is: What is your dream? What is the first step?

You might feel selfish for pursuing your dream but a pure dream is not selfish but is the vision for your life that God wants you to give to the world to BENEFIT others, not just yourself.

Also, don’t lose hope, don’t postpone it in your life. Ultimately, Jesus is the only true hope, he fulfills what accomplishing your biggest dreams could not. He fulfills our need for love, worth, security, and purpose and he did it all by conquering sin and death at the cross.

That was God’s dream for you, and He was bold enough to do it.
