Like a dog chasing a tail

You know that moment when you get exactly what you always wanted and you don’t feel as good as you thought you would? You might fake a good face for whoever is watching, but its not what you hoped for.

Well depressingly enough, that is life.

It's like when my dog Tyson chases after his own tail... (First of all, he is a boxer, and it is a nubbin so he will never get it) but what would he do if he actually get it? Probably do a dog shrug and go drink out of the toilet... Never satisfied.

Proverbs reveals, “Neither the grave nor destruction is ever satisfied;

the desires of people are never totally fulfilled.”[1]

That sucks, right? Never being completely fulfilled is no fun. But it is life, and that is okay, because we were never meant to be fulfilled in this life.

Does that surprise you?

One author explained that we are like fish lying on a beach trying to be sustained by temporary solutions, but the fish can only truly live in the nearby ocean, nothing else even comes close.

In the same way, we were made for eternity. That is our real life, this temporary thing is just a place is just a battlefield that we exist on until we cross into forever.

Ultimately, I believe, as the Bible explains, there are two eternal destinations: Heaven and Hell. I also believe that we have that choice of which one we go to.

That choice comes in the form of deciding to be united with Jesus rather than this world. By trusting Jesus, eternity changed for me. Heaven is not some theoretical anomaly, it is my destiny, and I cannot wait.

We were made for eternity, and if all the sex, vacations, awards, relationships, and anything else cannot make us fulfilled, then what is the conclusion?

CS Lewis explained it this way, ““If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”

By living for Heaven I actually take advantage of this life even more, because it is in its proper place.

I do not fear death, not anymore. You do not need to either.
